The Mint and the Bank of Mexico introduced and put into circulation the new 20-peso coin with the image of Octavio Paz to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of his appointment as the Nobel Prize in Literature 1990. The presentation of this piece coins, was in charge of the governor of the Bank of Mexico, Agustin Carstens, and Consuelo Sáizar, president of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, as well as the writer's widow, Jo Merie Paz, and the director Banxico, Marcelo de los Santos Fraga.
The first coin was given to his widow Marie Jo Peace at a ceremony in the main building of the Banco de Mexico.
The currency whose dimensions are 32 mm in diameter, presented in a side with the national emblem and the words "Mexico", while in the other a bust of winning in 1990, touching his chin.
The 20-peso coin was put into circulation starting this Thursday with the legal tender in order to be used by people in their daily transactions or collected.
The presentation highlighted that the minting of this coin will allow many Mexicans come to the work of noted poet and essayist Octavio Paz.
"May it serve its currency appreciation and gratitude on the part of Mexicans, so that new generations come to his work and read and learn," said Consuelo Sáizar, president of Conaculta.
"It should hold a special way to the only Mexican writer has won the Nobel Prize in literature. This award was given to Peace when he was 76 years old," said Agustin Carstens, Mexico's central bank governor. He explained that the proposal for the creation of this coin came from the deputy and senator Kenya López Rueda, PAN parliamentary group, but soon became a plural proposal that transcended party, likes and dislikes.
For Octavio Paz's widow, Marie Jo Paz, the biggest success of this coin is that hand in hand invited to enjoy the work of who won his heart.
"That's what I like, that's going to move to a very large scale and not a ticket elite, that gives me great pleasure and good is a positive sign," said Marie Jo Paz, Octavio Paz's widow.

The coin of 20 pesos to Octavio Paz was circulated throughout the country. Bimetallic core is a copper-nickel and aluminum brass ring.
