Peru with new coins of 2 and 5 Soles (sun)

The Central Bank of Peru put into service two new bimetallic coins of S /. 2 and S /. 5 with new designs that will run simultaneously with the current coins of the same denomination. These coins are part of the coin series "Wealth and Pride of Peru"

The new coins have the following characteristics:

Core alloy: Copper / Aluminum / Nickel
Alloy Ring: Stainless Steel
Diameter: 2 soles: 22.38 mm to 5.62 grams. 5 soles: 24.38 mm to 6.64 grams.

On the front (label) both coins bear the coat of arms of Peru and the legend "Banco Central de Reserva del Peru" and the year of issue. The size of the Shield covers almost the entire core. The border or edge of the coin features a continuous striatum.

On the back (side), the new coin has two suns the denomination in numbers and a motif alluding to the Nazca Lines, "The Hummingbird", reproduced in a composite of two overlapping dimensions covering both the core as part of ring.

At the top pre-Columbian iconography has geometric theme. In the bottom of the core notice the word NEW and in the ring SOLES word on a series of vertical lines.
